Internal & External projects - More than 1 level WBS structure

Hi,

We are currently engaged in the implementation of S/4HANA in an engineering & project context. They both have internal and external projects and they require a multi-level WBS structure (L3 to L4). As far as i can see you can only create 1 level in both the internal and external projects apps - this is really not working for them. I recognise that you can the classic project builder but then all the apps become useless ... so to me this is not really a trade-off. What is the reasoning behind this over simplification of project structure and is there anything foreseen in the near future on that? Why can we not extend these projects in the project builder?

Hi Eric,

Building more complex projects in the project builder app is supported in BP 35F, Capital Investment Project Management.

The definition of customer projects is aiming at Professional Services primarily.

More complex internal projects are supported in BP 35E Research and Development Project Management.

Hi Eric,

Correct, when following the 1NT test script and creating projects using Project Builder, reporting apps allow you only to see the top level WBS Project ID. You are able to create multi-level projects but only the top level Project ID will appear in reports.
