Links between Role (Activity Type) / Service Cost Level / Material

Dear community,

On customer and internal projects Work Package tab, we can assign resources according to their role (Activity Type previously defined). However, on the billing document, it is the material that appears on the billing item, and the materials have the same naming as the activity types (e.g. T002 senior consultant).

Additionally, if no Service Cost Level rate has been maintained, the system takes the activity cost rate for the bookings.

Does anyone know how these objects are linked and if we have access to manage the links between them?

Thanks in advance,

Veronica

Hi Veronica,

As Clare said, there is a background link between the Activity Type and the Materials. This is not something for which there is an SSCUI at the moment so you can't define new activity types/materials (they will show as options, but as you noted, won't pick up the pricing as the pre-defined materials do). So for the time being, you have to update and use the 20 Material/Activity Types that come predefined with the system.

From when I looked at this (which was admittedly quite a number of releases ago - so sure there are all sorts of new SCCUIs in this area now) the linkage is something that happens in the background - and from the perspective of using the system, it seems to just be driven by the fact that you give the activity type and material the same code - so I don't think you have access to manage the links

Indeed - but without access to the DIP profile as you say, it is impossible to influence the linkage. Have you had any success in influencing this setup via expert config (as it's always useful to know what it is possible to get approval for from this perspective)?

Hi Clare,

the linkage is not driven by the fact that the material number and the activity type have the same ID.

It is managed through a DIP profile.

The DIP profile is unfortunately not accessible in S/4HANA Cloud at that time, and I don't know if SAP foreseen to provide a SCCUI in a future release for that. SAP provides me some screen shots of this customizing from the back-end (file attached).
