HANA ODBC Driver SAML SSO Support

Hi Experts,

I want to connect from Excel, using the HANA ODBC Driver to my HANA Cloud Instance using SSO and a custom Identity Provider.

The Documentation clearly states that "In this scenario, a SAML bearer assertion is used to authenticate the user directly. It is the client application’s responsibility to retrieve the SAML bearer assertion used for logon".

So whats the recommended way to do it for Excel using the ODBC Driver? I read a lot of Documentation and found out that the ODBC Driver doesn't support a dedicated Identity Provider URL that could be used to retrieve the token. Also there is no way in Excel to retrieve the token. Whats the best practice way to connect and authenticate to the Identity Provider?

Also when creating a new ODBC data source the only Authentication Methods in Excel are Basic (Username + Password), Windows and Custom Connection Properties. Unfortunately not even the ODBC Connection Property Documentation is of any help.

I'm curious about your suggestions.

Best Regards,
Oliver
