IAS and CPI-What is impact on CPI or integrations built in CPI

Hello,

I am a SAP CPI Integration Consultant and closely work with integrating SuccessFactors EC to third Party system. I got to know about new tools from SAP, SCP Identity Authentication and Provisioning.

I know that SCP IAS is cloud service for secure authentication and user management. What I would like to know more is how would this new tool impact any integrations in SCPI

For example:

1) If Successfactors user authentication is managed by IAS will there be any impacts on the integrations currently running or to be build in future (like the way of authentication etc)

2) Can we authenticate users for SAP CPI via IAS as well ?

4) When there are any inbound interfaces built in SCPI, Can the authentication for third party systems triggering these interfaces managed by IAS.

Looking for possible use cases where we can make use of IAS with CPI (of course if the customer has one)

Can you refer me to suitable blogs or documents from where i can get some inputs.

Hello Sandhya,

There will not be any impact on Integrations untill you follow basic authentication process in integration ( which we follow on regular basis ).This IAS and IPS will come into picture for regular users who want to login using Single Sign On ).

Maybe this blog post can answer at least part of the question:

How to call iFlow from IAS-based application

I tried today and changed the BTP subaccount with the CPI service to use IAS as IDP.

I also added a group in IAS and provided it as assertion attribute. This worked all fine and each CPI permission can now be individually set to use the CPI as developer/admin.

But when I am calling an iFlow directly the authentication obviously happens still against SAP (same as the BTP general authentication), so don't know how to overcome this.

Current conclusion is that it is NOT possible to use IAS for CPI (same as AskHR btw!)
