How to create BW Project using Eclipse on SAP HANA Express Edition

Hi All,

I recently installed SAL HANA Express Edition 2.0 using Virtual Machine. I installed server + applications virtual machine on my Windows 10. I installed eclipse 2020 - 09 version. I want to start modelling with BW tools but I am unable to create a new BW project. I get error 'Local and global SAP UI Landscape files not found. Use SAP GUI to configure them or use System Connections preferences to set them manually.' Has anyone faced the same problem?

Your help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks in advance.

Best Regards,

Satyapriya.

Hi Satyapriya,

SAP HANA is a database (server) with an application runtime (+ applications) for XS advanced (Cloud Foundry technology).

Business Warehouse (BW) is an application (components) that requires a different runtime: SAP (NetWeaver) Application Server (AS) ABAP.

In other words, you would have to install both the application server runtime (AS ABAP) and the application (BW); both require significant resources. This is not supported and technically not likely to work.

To test drive BW, best to use a prepackaged solution from the SAP Cloud Application Library.

Hi Denys,

Thank you very much for your reply. I will do the same.

Best Regards,

Satyapriya.
