EWM Licences

Maybe you can help me with this topic.

The latest I heard about licences over EWM was that SAP is now managing licences in the same way they are managing for Professional Shipping (Advanced Transportation) in TM where you pay by Transportation. Then, you have different rates depend on the transportation range you play. For EWM the licence rate is related to delivery documents or material document items, and you will pay depending on the range you manage.

But the question is, for both EWM types, Advance embedded and decentralized?. Or, decentralized EWM pay licences by user as standard way?.

To my knowledge EWM licenses are measured per warehouse on top of a user license. That's for advanced functionalities. A user license is enough for basic ones. I'm not aware of different licensing approach to embedded and decentralized EWM. I think the approach is the same.

But again, that's my understanding and you should check it with SAP sales people.

Since S/4HANA introduction and availability of embedded TM and EWM components, they are replacing LE-TRA and LE-WM components respectively. Both TM and EWM can be used in, let's call them basic and advanced modes. Basic mode of TM and EWM basically covers the functionalities of LE-TRA and LE-WM respectively. If you stay within basic functionalities you don't need to have any additional licenses. However if you go with advanced functionalities, you definitely need additional licenses. My understanding is that it applies both to embedded and decentralized installations.

Disclaimer - that's is my understanding of the SAP licensing approach. I'm not licensing specialists so I might be wrong.

Hello Dominik,

I know how the functionality in both TM and EWM was developed to replace old functionality, but this was not the question. My question was related to how SAP manage the licences for Advance EWM funtionality and also to comfirm the approach of decentralized licences, as usual or with this method by operations.
