To set up process to handle production line rejection and issue new part from warehouse

Hi Experts,

Request you to let me know how to handle the part replacement due to production line rejection. i.e. parts would be rejected at production line and we need to issue a new part from warehouse.

Kindly not we are not using SAP QM module.

We need to have solution with reference to PP,MM & WM. Below are the steps that needs to be followed.

1.Create and release production order

2.Pick components from warehouse.

3.Confirm TO & place components in PSA.

4.Production team picks the component and say’s it as a defective part.

5.We need to post the rejection for the defective component.

6.Issue a new component from warehouse to replace the rejected component against the same Production order

Thanks & Regards

Hello chandrashekar.n

I'd suppose that if production people find a defective part and post it to blocked stock then they will not post a consumption of the part to a production order. Therefore you'll still have an outstanding production requirement for the part and the production reservation of the part will not be closed.

If the reservation is closed, it means that there is no production requirement of a component. Therefore additional production supply i.e. step 6 is not needed.

Hello chandrashekar.n

You can implement the process the following way:

Ad 1 - 3 That's just a standard production supply process with WM-PP interface.

Ad 4 - 5 Here the production team can post a transfer to blocked stock - transaction MIGO, movement type 344. This transfer in MM will trigger a follow up action in WM:

You may keep the blocked stock in PSA or transfer it to a dedicated bin. Then you need to decide what to do with blocked parts. You may scrap them or execute a quality inspection outside of the system as you don't use QM. Then depending on the inspection results you can transfer the stock back to unrestricted if the parts are ok or scrap them if they are really defective or maybe return to a vendor.

Ad 6 That would be a repeat of steps 1 - 3.

Hello Dominik,

Thanks very much for the below suggestion. How do we Issue a new component from warehouse to replace the rejected component against the same Production order. Reservations which are created against the production order are already issued and confirmed.

Kindly suggest a step to issue the components from warehouse as step 1 to step 3 already completed and confirmed.

Thanks & Regards
