Enable app-to-app navigation in BAS

Dear Experts,

is there any relevant tutorial or documentation how one can successfully enable the "App-to-App" navigation within Business Application Studio? We have the requirement to navigate from a cds annotated fiori elements app to a freestyle app.

But nothing happens really or we are missing someting here.....Within manifest.json I cannot see any change or so...I entered source and target app project...no change.

Maybe you know more or even can suggest how to successfully navigate into a view which is not coupled via an association? The goal is to create a new data instance for a very complex rule based entity set. The views and the relevant controller already exist.
