Using PAL/APL on the trial instance of SAP HANA Cloud

Is it possible to use the PAL/APL features as part of the SAP HANA Cloud trial?

I am finding conflicting info on this. I think it requires more than 2 VCPU's which isn't possible with the trial system? Secondly, I think it requires the Script Server to be enabled on SAP HANA Cloud which again, doesn't seem to be possible with the trial instance.

I'd appreciate any advice in relation to this.

Hi Asad,

Time of writing, the trial is limited to 2 vCPUs. As you correctly state, AFL requires 3 vCPU (and a script server) and hence not supported.

Would you mind pointing out where there is conflicting information? We can try to get that fixed. Thanks!

Thanks for the prompt response denys.kempen. Do you know if there are any plans to change this for the trial account? Also, can I get around this by using the Jupyter Notebooks to build and train models?

I will try to trace my steps and let you know if I can locate any contradictory material. Thanks again.

Thank you for your efforts, Asad. Appreciated.

I would expect that the SAP HANA Cloud trial will eventually include the machine learning functionality of PAL/APL but I have no information about when this might be implemented. Should this change I will let you know.

There is journey about using Jupyter Notebooks with SAP HANA Cloud which may be of interest
