Master Data maintainance via Excel UI

Hi experts,

I would like to ask the Master Data Workbook function embedded in Excel UI.

Q1:Is my understanding right that it is impossible to edit the value of Master Data via excel, and the only way to edit the value is to upload CSV via Data Integration App Job in web UI or using CPI-DS. (Save button is painted in gray..)

Q2: If my understanding is right, does anyone know why the value cannot be edited in Excel UI? If it was possible, it would be definitely easier to maintenance Master Data…

Hi,

You can edit the MDT from excel UI.

Navigate to Master data workbook in Master data ribbon (excel UI).

Select the master data type and choose the edit option in the pop-up. Please be noted that we can edit only non-key attributes in MDT.

After making changes you can hit the save changes button.

You can also create new master data too.

Thank you for your informative info! I have learned..

Let me ask some additional questions...

First, for instance, does it mean that there is no other way but to use Data Integration Job App or CPI-DS when I want to edit an attribute designated as Key of the MDT(e.g. LOCID in LOCATION MDT)?

Second, if my understanding is right regarding the first question, it seems not possible, via excel UI, to create a new record in LOCATION MDT as LOCID cannot be edited. Is that perception correct?

Hi Kenta Kono,

If you are editing a key attribute via excel UI or integration, meaning you are creating a new record.
