Putaway strategy: next storage type not suggested - mixed storage not allowed

Hello

We need to setup a new storage type HB05 in our EWM warehouse. The storage type has following characteristics

- max. 14 HU's in each storage bin

- only one combination product/batch allowed. So no mixed storage

I did the setup as below.

Furthermore I created a new putaway strategy to make sure only some products are stored in HB05. The putaway should work in following way. As long there are empty bins or bins with same product/batch a HU should be placed in storage type HB05. When there is no empty bin anymore or only bins filled with other product/batch combination, the HU should be stored in another storage type HB01.

I created below storage type search sequence for this.

But when I do testing on this, the system doesn't seem to recognize there are no free storage bins anymore in storage type HB05. And if I try to put the HU on a storage bin of storage type HB05 it correctly says no mixed storage is allowed.

Any idea how I can solve this?

Thanks.

Kind regards,

Jolien

Hi,

there is no "below", means, I can not find any screenshots (which I guess you meant to add).

Hello

Seems something went wrong with the images.

Below you can see setup of storage type.

And below you can see storage type search sequence for putaway.

Hi, you have Generic WT (only to the storage type). System finds storage type, this is it. It does not checking the storage bins. It should be visible in logs.

Hello Daniil,

So if I would change Generic WT from 2 to blank it will do the check on storage bin level? And take into account the capacity.

Do you think it's a good idea to only change the setting Generic WT in one storage type and keep working with Generic WT 2 in other storage types? Or is this not recommended.

Thanks for your reply.

Hi jvg_manna ,

it depends on the processes, but if you need to check capacity in WT creation, you need to let system to search for the bin, in this case should be empty for all storage types. Otherwise system would prefer first storage type with generic task creation ( if HU type is allowed there ).

Hello Daniil,

Thanks for your reply.

I think most of it is clear to me now.

Hi,

"Do you think it's a good idea to only change the setting Generic WT in one storage type and keep working with Generic WT 2 in other storage types? Or is this not recommended."

Why would you use a generic WT at all? This is something which is relevant in MFS scenarios with a identification point (after which you re-create the WT, this time not-generic) or when you want the warehouse worker to decide on the bin (and yes, there it makes probably no sense to have any other storage type in your search sequence). And we have it it work centers, where the bin comes from POSC.

Hello Juergen,

At the moment all our storage types are set up with generic WT. So our warehouse workers can decide themselves where to place an HU.

Kind regards,
