How to configure expiry date by customer?

My client sells beverages. These beverages are batch/expiry controlled. They have customers that have varying expiry date requirements. For example, customer A will only accept product that has an expiry date >12 months; customer B will accept product that has an expiry date > 6months; Is there a way to configure the customer with expiry dates?

Hello juliegranshaw,

Do you want to group the customer? Or you want to see the product expiry date when selling the to your customer?

In Account master data, there is customer group field in sales data tab, you can create new groups based on this requirement.

While for expiry dates, there is no standard fields for this as it is very specific requirement, you may try the extension field to store the information and use it in the sales order.

Thanks Adie for your reply. However, I'm wanting this functionality to work in such a way that when a customer submits a sales order, the availability of material is checked against the customer's expiry requirement before releasing product. Does that make sense? We basically don't want to ship product out to a customer that doesn't fit within their expiry requirements.
