Download a story to excel

Hi Community

I have created a table within a story, which I use for planning. I would like to be able to download that table in excel and plan there directly, and then upload the modifications to SAC. The reason I do this is because there are certain users who plan that they are not licensed.

I was wondering if it is possible to download a story in excel and be able to upload it again with the modifications.

Thank you in advance.

Hi carolina.nieto.ibarzabal,

You can achieve this in three ways.

  • Use Analysis Of Office Excel add-in for planning and reporting. This will allow write back to SAC. You do not need additional licenses to use this product. Though users need to be part of planning standard or planning professional licenses. What is SAP Analysis for Microsoft Office, edition for SAP Analytics Cloud. You can use concurrent licenses if users are from different geo location and they may not use system at the same time. This will save cost vs using named licenses.
  • Have users save the file in file server and uploaded it as and when required basis or via scheduled job.
  • let users use BI SAC license to query planning model and share their data changes with power user. Who then can upload them (using Analysis add-in) and publish them. Only downside is dependencies and until version become public users will not be able to view them using BI license. As only published version will be visible based on access.

Hope this helps.

Good Luck!

Thanks,

Vijayeta
