Hey guys,
I have just created a trial SAP Hana Cloud account and would have liked to get stared with Help Thomas Get Started with SAP HANA tutorial at https://developers.sap.com/tutorials/hana-trial-advanced-analytics.html
The issue I am facing is at Step 3: Configure your trial account at the point of database creation. After filling all necessary information, when hitting Create instance button, error pops up: An error occurred while attempting to create an instance: The service instance cannot be created because paid service plans are not allowed.
Is there a current issue with the SAP HANA Cloud Trial accounts or am I missing some configuration - although I have followed the tutorial closely.
Any help would be appreciated!
Thank you in advance for your support,
Alex
Good news everyone! We have identified the issue and will be rolling out a fix soon. In the meantime, to work around the problem, you can do the following:
From SCP Cockpit, navigate to your subaccount. Then in left menu bar, click on Entitlements. Then click on Configure Entitlements, and remove the service called Application Runtime by clicking on the trash can icon at the right of the screen. Then click on Save.
After this, you will re-add the Application Runtime service. Click on Configure Entitlements again, then Add Service Plan. Type Application Runtime in the search box and re-add it. You can then allocate all 4 units to it, and click Save.
Once these steps have been completed, you can navigate back to your dev space and properly create your HANA Cloud instance without getting that 'paid service plan' error.
If you do still encounter any issues, please be sure to post in the SAP Community. Thanks again for bringing this issue to our attention - and apologies for any inconveniences experienced.
Regards,
Mike Paola (SAP HANA Product Management)

Thank you Mike and Denys for your help. Following the above steps I was able to create a new HANA database and now it is up and running.
Csaba - great to hear that with the given workaround, you were able to get around the problem. Thanks for confirming!
Mike

If anyone is still facing the issue even after the entitlement adjustment. Consider deleting the space and recreating it.

I have exactly the same problem. I registered today to the Trial with a P-user and I have a freshly created, empty space called "dev". I also get the "paid service plans are not allowed." error.
I also tried creating the database by creating a new "Instance" on the "Service Instances" page. For the Service I selected hana-cloud-trial, and then hana from the "Service Plan" dropdown. I immediately see a warning "This is a paid service plan.".
