Studio text editor crashes

Hello Experts,

After working on a solution for ByDesign, I closed all editor windows (BOs and ABSLs) and logged off the system normally, I log in again a few minutes after to do a trace on the solution. This time, whenever I try to open a BO definition or an ABSL document, the SDK crashes. I've tried opening a local txt file, and the SDK also crashes. I've uninstalled, and re-installed the SDK and the problem persists.

I'm all out of ideas on what caused the problem and how to fix it.

I'm hoping someone in the community can advise me on what else I could try to get the editor running again.

Best regards,

Michael

Dear Michael,

Kindly try below options:

1. Please delete the cache files from your laptop. Example - C:\Users\XXXX \Documents\CopernicusIsolatedShell\Projects ->>> delete the instances.

2.Reinstall Cloud Application studio or try checking installing in different laptop to cross verify if the issue is with your laptop

3. If still persist, seems your Visual Studio which is currently exist in system is corrupted. Kindly contact your local IT team once and inform them to clear all the cache files associated to Visual studio.

4. Once the cache is clear, SDK tool should work without any error.

Thanks & Regards,

Deepty

Dear Deepty,

Thank you for the assistance and in response to your suggestions:

1. I've attempted clearing the local Projects files and it did not solve the problem. The text editor within the studio crashes whenever I open *.absl, *.bo, *.xbo as well as any local text file I open while remaining offline.

2. I've reinstalled the Cloud Applications Studio 2011 many times but this does not seem to be the cause, or at least re-installing doesn't seem to solve the problem. I've tried opening the project on a different computer and am able to do so normally. This leads me to think that some dependency in my machine got corrupted. I've attempted the Repair/Fix function of Visual Studio 2010 Isolated Shell and this did not fix the problem either.

3. I'm afraid in my case, I'm the local IT team I've googled how to clear Visual Studio cache files but none of the directories mentioned seem to contain a significant amount of files nor does it fix the problem when cleared.

4. Would you know the specific cache location that the CAS uses (apart from the CopernicusIsolatedShell?

Best regards,

Michael

Dear Michael,

Yes, you are right, This issue is not related to CAS but it is system specific issue due to some corrupt file in your system.

You need to try deleting/uninstalling all the files associated to your solutions and CAS and Re-Install.

Ideally such cases we direct to local IT team who can help but In your case you are part of IT team, so may be you can check internally once in other system where CAS is working fine to compare the files associated to CAS and uninstall.

Thanks & Regards,

Deepty

Try this:

  • Close Studio
  • Find the \CopernicusIsolatedShell\Projects folder in your My Documents
  • Empty it
  • Restart Studio and Connect

Thanks for the response, Vincent. I have tried the above steps and the whole application crashes when I open a file with the text editor within the Studio (i.e. opening *.absl, *.bo, *.xbo, and even local text files). Perhaps some component got corrupted in my laptop because I don't experience similar issues on a spare terminal we have at the office.

I've tried repairing Microsoft Visual Studio 2010 Isolated shell but the problem persists. Are there any dependencies that I can check and re-install because just uninstalling and reinstalling the CAS SDK doesn't seem to be solving the problem.
