Variant Configuration screen - characteristic description not displayed

Hello,

For a certain characteristic we are using a check table to define the allowable values in variant configuration. However, for this characteristic only the value is displayed to the user and not the full description. Is there a way to make the screen show the characteristic description (either instead of or both)?

just to better focus on the question, are you using S/4HANA for AVC - Advanced Variant Configuration?

(by the way, the question is all about characteristic value description, isn't it?)

Check table work well if you only use to restrict user entry for values maintained in the table, so by design it just have a one key field in the table and the column for key field is displayed to user for selecting value.

Your problem is you are want to use 2 columns of a check table which is not allowed. Check tables with more than one key field are not supported. However, if you enter a function module for checking values, you can refer to any check table in your own coding.
