Unable to register device for Push Notification using SAP Mobile Services Client

Hello Experts,

I was exploring Push Notifications functionality using MDK application. I went through the steps mentioned in the Tutorial . I tried to replicate the same in Business Application studio as well activating the Mobile Push Notification on SAP Cloud Platform Mobile Services in Cloud Foundry.

After deploying the basic app developed using the above tutorial link, I tried testing with SAP Mobile Services Client available on Android Play store. But Push Registration is failing every time. It is always going to my Failure Action. I have double checked all the steps mentioned in the tutorial.

Request your help on what could be the issue with registration.

Regards,

Karan Shaheri.

I quickly tested it on my Android device, it worked fine for me.

Can you check the following:

  • In Mobile services cockpit > app id > Mobile Settings Exchange > look for your user registration > click on it , do you see any Android FCM registration details? (Since Push registration failed, it shouldn't be there, but just wanted to double check)

You can enable event log to further troubleshoot it. Do the following:

  • Mobile services cockpit > click on your Application ID > Enable Event log for push notification

  • Delete user registration from Mobile Settings Exchange feature > User registrations
  • Uninstall and re-install SAP Mobile Services client on your device
  • complete the on-boarding process
  • , if you still see error message then look into logs (it may take couple of seconds to reflect the logs in Mobile services cockpit) by navigating to Analytics > Logs > Event Logs > filter with your application id.

(in my case, it was successful so i see that message)

Thank you jitendrakumar.kansal !! This worked for me. What could be the issue? As user was already on-boarded, push registration may not be working?

shaheri.karan that shouldn't be the case. (i was able to test this behavior successfully)

In case if you see push registration failure again, enable the event logs and then look into logs if there is any info, this might help us in identifying the root cause.
