SAP EWM: Several activity areas for one storage type

Hello,

I have the following situation: for one storage type - WST1 i have two activity areas AAR1 and AAR2. And i need for the product P1 flow to go through storage type WST1 and activity area AAR1 (WO have to be created with that AA) and for product P2 flow to go through storage type WST1 and activity area AAR2 (WO have to be created with that AA).

Could you please advise, how i can customize that? Because i think, that to assign bin directly to storage type and AA in customizing is not a good idea.

Thank you in advance!

Hi,

Ok, what are you really trying to achieve? And how does it look like physically? You wrote one storage type and two activity areas. But what about bins? Is one bin assigned to two activity areas? That is possible, but then you need two activities to make any differentiation.

Or is it only to separate aisles (as you wrote in your answer)? The storage sections and activity areas is still two different things. The storage section in a storage type for putaway is part of the putaway strategy. The activity area is for controlling the WOCR and the WO size / content.

And it is EWM. NOT eWM - Duh!

Hello, Juergen, Daniil

Finally i need to customize LOSC and i need to separate two product flows. These two flows have to be moved through one handover storage type, but throughdifferent storage sections and the final destination for them is the same storage type, but bins with different storage groups and also coorect queues have to be defined.

And for my problem, solution is: to maintain aisle in the bins and in the custozming settings for activity areas. Also I've created two activity areas for handover storage type and correct section for the flow is defining, based on the final bin for putaway (from LOSC customizing settings + putaway strategy), based on all that seetings, system defines correct activity area and then finally defines correct queue.

Thank you for answers, topic can be closed from my point of view.

For now i have just one idea:

1) First of all define aisle start and aisle end in the assigning storage bins to the activity areas; 2) Then assign aisles to the storage bins itself; 3) Create two storage sections - SSEC1 for product P1 and SSEC2 for product P2; 4) Define new putaway strategy, with storage section indicators - so finally when moving product, system will define bin and get data for aisle and the define correct activity area

What would you say ?

Hi Ilya, way with storage sections is a correct thing to do. Activity areas are used "more" in warehouse order creation part. And during warehouse putaway task creation best way is to use sections.
