Planning calendar issue

Hello Experts,

When i run MD4C report for sales order and item (whose delivery date is 23.04.2021), it throws error Error determining planning periods for planning calendar.

For same material having sales order delivery date as 20.11.2021, it does not throw the error. Planning horizon is 360days but this should not affect since for other sales orders, we are not facing this issue.

Also in MRP2, planning calendar is blank. Please help us to resolve the issue.

Hi John

When you run transaction MD4C, you are basically reading all your product structure (BOM), so the error message is not necessarily triggered for the header material. I would suggest you to review all the planning calendars maintained for your plant and ensure that they are not ending before the factory calendar, in order to avoid this error, since this message may arise also during the MRP run.

If you want to identify for which specific MRP element this message is triggered, you might check in debugger, following the steps outlined in the document below:

https://archive.sap.com/documents/docs/DOC-53035

Also, if you are using classic MRP, check report RMMDERRO, which shows the error messages triggered during the MRP run. You will probably also find this error message and you will be able to identify for which material it is triggered.

Regards,
Caetano

Hello Caetano,

Thanks for the feedback.

I checked planning calendars for the products, however none of them have anything maintained in MRP2 tab. It is blank.

So in this case which calendar is fetched? Factory calendar validity is till 2026 and planning calendar (all) validity is till 2023 (but they arenot maintained in MRP2). Planning horizon is 360 days and sales order first date is 23.04.2021. Not sure what to do. I tried debugging and found the material but not sure how to proceed. Please suggest.

Also, when I ran MD4C with Availability calculation as ATP logic, it gave me correct output. So why should I change the option? Please suggest.

Hi john

Please share Error Msg no if it is different from 61123. if the Error message is 61123: 'Error determining planning periods calendar

It could be due to planning calendar is insufficiently maintained. There are MRP items (requirements, planned orders, production orders, purchase orders, and so on, ... ) with a requirements date or an input date before or after the period that is defined in the planning calendar. Check the requirements dates and delivery dates of the MRP items of the material in question with the current stock/requirements list in transaction MD04. .
