Hi Gordon,

SAP can assist you in developing an upgrade plan. The upgrade process is a joint effort from HEC and the customer, from the planning phase to execution and testing. The customer is in the lead of this process.

To plan an upgrade, we recommend that you contact your SAP CAS / Implementation Partner. With an upgrade no automatic configuration adjustment is done, customers will need to do manual adjustments based on potential new content.

Best regards,

Christian

Hi Gordon,

With SAP S/4HANA Cloud, extended edition we are offering to our customers the flexibility to have up to two upgrades per year. However, if more time is needed, customers will have a choice to execute an upgrade just every two years as a minimum. This way, customers can always benefit from all innovations included in the latest SAP releases.

SAP S/4HANA Cloud, extended edition is fundamentally based on the SAP S/4HANA on-premise product version and thus following the respective on-premise release cycle with some exceptions. SAP S/4HANA Cloud, extended edition includes two releases per calendar year, planned for March and September of each year. Also, it only comprises two Feature Pack Stacks on the major yearly releases. The differences are due to the fact that preparations and operational procedures need to be followed to offer the cloud solution.

For more information on the EX release cycle, please visit the following SAP Note.

Thanks and best regards,

Christian

Thank you, Christian . . . therefore, does SAP and the client share in the governance or does SAP provide the upgrade without the client's involvement. Also, who is responsible for testing prior to the upgrade?

Hi Gordon,

SAP and Customer share the governance responsibility for the upgrade. Customer is responsible for the testing.

Hope this helps,

Marco
