SAP EDI for events reporting

Hi,

This question is for the EM experts where we are planning to report events using EDI.

First of all in case we use EDI we have specific event codes-AR .Does it mean I don't need to do any translation using PI since system is expected to identify arrival at destination using event code-AR. Is my assumption correct.

Secondly what are the various EDI codes we have for the other standard events for Load begin, load end, POD , departure etc.

Also our architecture is via EDI--PI use webservice instead of Idoc. Is this ok from SAP EM perspective or do we use Idoc as a mandatory architecture for EDI when we use SAP EM

Thanks for the update.

So to map the entire process basically I see two activities in that case:

a) Mapping in PI to map external event codes to internal event codes

b) Also in EM we need to maintain the external event codes to internal event codes config.

Kindly confirm if I am missing anything else.

Hi Indraneel,

I believe there is no standard EDI codes for these events , you will have to do the mapping of these events with the reporting party software(Eg. INTTRA or GT NEXUS).

These mapping has to be done at PI level Eg: with INTTRA the event code UV - is reported for Unloaded from Vessel . INTTRA will report these messages to PI system , PI system will have to map the event UV with SAP EM Code - UNLOAD_END and report it via standard EDI.
