BCP 10.1 NW and Analysis for MS Excel or Live Office

Dear Experts,

Do you have any experience with using BPC 10.1 NW with Analysis for MS Excel or Live Office?

Before upgrade from BPC 7.5 NW we were successfully using Live Office to deliver data form BEx Queries to our BPC Input Form. Now we work with BPC 10.1 NW and both add-ins Live Office and Analysis seems to work unstable.

I am able to create a report using both tools but after I save it on BPC server and reopen it is not recognized as a Live Office / Analysis object. Everything is MS Ribbon is greyed out.

We are using following sowfrawe versions:

Live Office Version: 14.0.12.1946 ; Build: 1946

Analysis for MS Excel 51051633 SBOP Analysis 2.4

EPM MS Office add-in Version: 10.0 SP 26 Patch 2 .NET4;build 9606

Hi Jakub,

If you are using BPC Standard then please use EPM Add-in in standalone mode! No need to use Analysis for Office.......AFO is required in case of BPC Embedded!

Look here https://blogs.sap.com/2016/12/07/bpc-10.1-office-client-strategy/

With my personal experience....if you download AFO then you cant install EPM Addin separately! It comes as part of AFO as a plug in.

JP

Hi Priyanka,

Thank you for your comment. Our BPC was installed in standalone mode. I've added live Office / AFO separately due to a business requirement.

As a source of data in one of our BPC input form we use data from external BW cude (non BPC). So we need to load data to that specific BPC input form before recalculating and saving to BPC model.

Is there any chance to use both tolls together ?

Jakub

Just as an idea - why not to load data from this BW cube to some BPC model?

Hello Vadim,

If there will be now other option I guess we will have to do that.
BPC 7.5 and Live Office were working just fine and I still hope that there is some similar solution for BPC 10.1 .

Jakub

To my mind it's better to have all data in BPC - same security, single client, same reporting etc...

.

P.S. Anyway all reports from BPC 7.5 has to be redesigned in BPC 10!

Hi Jakub,

I agree with Vadim! You will have to redesign the reports in 10.1! Also your using 10.1 Standard version so ideally the approach in your case should be to load the data from BW cube to BPC model and then display it in the input form. But in your case seems there was an integration with Live office, the case is different. Since you will be using AFO...then use EPM plug in of AFO! not Analysis plug in! I havent worked on Live Office....so cant really comment how it could be done with EPM. But may be for a solution you could approach SAP Suport as I couldnt find anything on this.

Hi Priyanka,

Thank you for you anwser. As you've suggested I will contact SAP Support to check is it possible to use EPM and Live Office like it used to work. If not I will load data to BPC model.

Could please clarify what do you mean exactly to "use EPM plug in of AFO! not Analysis plug in!"?

Regards,

Jakub

Read this blog to understand....https://blogs.sap.com/2016/12/07/bpc-10.1-office-client-strategy/

With AFO you also get EPM installed which is called as EPM Plug in. You need to use that for Standard model.
