Are there any plans for a python version of the Cloud SDK?

Hi!

As stated in the title, I would like to see a python version of the SAP Cloud SDK. Are there any plans to support this in the future?

Thanks,

Patrick

I hope not as I think it's hard enough to deliver quality for the currently supported Java and Javascript SDK's.

Hi, patrick.heinze

Artem here, a Product Owner of Cloud SDK for Java and JavaScript.

The short anseer is no.

We don't plan an SDK for Python. Developing an SDK is a very significant investment with pretty high running cost. That's why we carefully chose technology with enought scale and impact to justify it and cover the most of customer requirements.

We believe Java and JS should satisfy it for Cloud Native development with SAP. Of course Python has many great applications and wonderful ecosystem for data science and machine learning, but that doesn't justify investing in building a type-safe client and convenince abstractions on top of it.

On the other hand, I don't see why JS or Java SDK can't be used for moving the data around and Python for processing it if that's the crux. Please, share more about you use-case and maybe we can offer some ideas.

I hope it helps and looking forward to hear more about requirements leading you requesting an SDK for Python.

Best,

Artem
