Hi guys, I have been direct here from SAPs customercare email

I have four questions:

  • Can Crystal reports use data inputted directly from the user? i.e. can an operator enter the data point [x= Oct. 6, y=12] directly into Crystal Report’s user interface and the report will show this point on a chart?
  • Can reports be generated on event? E.g. if data_point_1 is ON then generate report
  • Is there a crystal reports web portal?
  • Is there a way to view a crystal reports dashboard on a mobile devices

Thanks

Hi Robert,

1. Yes - through the use of parameters.

2. Not using internal Crystal functionality. However, you could write a program using either the .NET or the Java SDK that would check the database for this value and then run the report.

3. Again, you could use one of the SDKs for this. Another option is SAP Crystal Reports Server, which also provides capabilities for scheduling reports. A third option would be a third-party product. http://www.kenhamady.com/bookmarks.html is a good place to start looking for one.

4. There are mobile capabilities in Crystal Reports Server.
