Practical use for movement type 291

Hi all,

Is anyone out here actually using movement type 291 - Goods Issue to all account assignments?

I know the movement type allows all of the account assignment objects to be selected by the user. Our users are not aware of the movement type, so no one is using it.

What I would like to know is:

  • Are your users using this movement type in your business processes? In which cases?
  • Why use the 291 movement type instead of the regular movement types 201, 261, etc?
  • Are you actually doing any sort of reporting by movement type which could be affected by using the 291 movement type?

Thanks !

Hello 01224e03a1874b69919eab14e401e433

I'd suggest using 291 to post any issues for which you don't have regular movement types, the issue that occurs only occasionally. Say you don't have a regular process to issue free samples, then you can post them with 291. Or suppose something has been stolen and you don't want to go with regular physical inventory process here, again you can adjust stock with 291.

As 291 is used to post various issues you need a way to distinguish them and to report them. Here I'd suggest using movement reasons.
