PPM portfolio item locking in EDIT mode - standard or enhancement?

Hello all,

Does anyone know if PPM items can be locked in EDIT mode so that while it is being edited/updated by a user, it prevents other users from accessing it, even if the second user has the proper authorization to update it. Is this a standard feature or does this require enhancement?
