BI 4.3 - publish a chart or table as a web service - Deprecated?

Hi,

We are testing new 4.3 release on a sandbox environment to validate that previous 4.2 SPX features does work fine.

We are trying to publish a chart as a Web Service as described on SAP documentation

https://help.sap.com/viewer/9f1a7582950c4d9fb505fc92dbb422c3/4.3/en-US/4733b8366e041014910aba7db0e91...

Reading the guide It looks like this feature is now only available in the Rich Client (removed from WebI HTML Fiori)

Select the table or chart that you want to publish, right-click and select Publish as Web Service to display the Publish Content wizard.

But we have tried it and when righ-clicking the option "Publish as Web Service" does not appear.

What is more we don't see the Web Service Publisher icon mentioned on the guide.

Has been feature deprecated and documentation is not updated?

Regards,

Alfons

Hi Ayman,

Thanks for the reference. Yes, it sounds quite obvious that the feature does not longer exist by now. But before to go ahead to replace all our existing investment on WS by REST SDK developments we would like to be sure that this is a definitely "deprecation".

The same document you mentioned says following

"The features in the list below will be added in future support packages:

Shared Elements

SAP HANA Online Mode UI Customization

Extension Points

Freeze Header

Send to FTP

Query/ Document as a Web Service"

So it looks lilke that the feature was not currently available but will reappear on future SP.

It's quite annoying because it might be SP01 (December) or who know when.

Under these circumstances it's quite difficult to plan when to move towards 4.3 when your current SAP BI 4.2 platform is using some of these missing features.

You are absolutely right, it is better to wait for SP1 to be released (Week 50 - as mention in "SAP BusinessObjects Maintenance Schedule")

BI 4.3 SP0-Patch-200 will also be released in week 37. The missing item "Query as service" in the context menu "may have been" fixed!.
