Action Type for Re-hiring

Hi All,

I would like to end the contract of existing staff and re-hire them back into the company the next day. However I understand that SAP does not allow for termination and re-hire without a 1 day break in service. As such, what would be the other action types that can be used for this re-hiring?

The reason that the termination and re-hiring is required is because their length of service in the previous contract will not be recognised and their new commencement date will be the date of re-hire. Hence reorgassignment is not possible because their length of service will still continue.

Appreciate any advise and expertise in this area urgently, thank you!

I've never changed an employees PERNR in a rehire action, but it is my understanding that the system should allow it. You might have to delete the PERNR first via PU00. I'm not certain of the procedure for that. Generally you wouldn't want to change it unless the organizational assignment is to a different MOLGA.

Hi Beatrice,

My recommendation would be to delimit all relevant infotypes during your termination action. Then, during your re-hiring action, create new records for IT0041-Date specifications for Technical Date of Entry as well as any other relevant Date type like ref. date vacation.
