On the SAP analytics cloud, when using the Smart Insight on the bar chart and line chart, the smart insights were not shown but with a notice that - To access Smart Insights, please check the data configuration in your chart.

But I cannot find what is data configuration and how to do it. So any tips here? Thank you.

Hi Max,

This means there are no eligible dimensions and other insights for smart insights to show up. This typically happens when your chart or data point for which you trigger smart insights is already narrowed down to detailed analysis or your underlying data model does not have number of dimensions that are found varying(in other words as per calculation nothing was deemed interesting). For example lets say, your dataset has 3 dimensions- product , customer and region and in the chart you are analysing revenues by products for specific region . For Smart Insights then only customer dimension would be eligible for calculation however it finds that all customers drive same amount of revenue thus there is nothing to rank and hence you get this message. The message might sound slightly confusing but it suggests you that you adjust the chart or data and try again.

Please let me know the background or example Further if the above does not sound the case in your situation.

Hi Max,

I believe that Smart Insights is not supported for all scenarios, either related to the type of data connectivity (live vs. import) or if you use certain calculated objects.

Kind regards,
