Where to start?

Hello SAP Comunnity,
I have cc 10 years experience in Web Development field and now I'm interested to learn SAP and I want to take right steps in terms of learning.
Can I learn some SAP fields on my own and certify my knowledge?
What is a best resources to begin with? (Cheaper one, I cannot afford 10K in learning material).

Thanks in advance

Hi and welcome to the SAP Community!

Thank you for visiting SAP Community to get answers to your questions. Since you're asking a question here for the first time, I recommend that you familiarize yourself with https://community.sap.com/resources/questions-and-answers (if you haven't already), as it provides tips for preparing questions that draw responses from our members. For example, you can outline what steps you took to find answers (and why they weren't helpful) and share screenshots of what you've seen/done. The more details you provide, the more likely it is that members will be able to assist you.

Should you wish, you can revise your question by selecting Actions, then Edit (although once someone answers your question, you'll lose the ability to edit the question -- but if that happens, you can leave more details in a comment).

Finally, if you're hoping to connect with readers, please consider adding a picture to your profile. Here's how you do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5JdUbyjfMA&list=PLpQebylHrdh5s3gwy-h6RtymfDpoz3vDS. By personalizing your profile with a photo of you, you encourage readers to respond.

Cheers,

Yes, you can, especially it would be very easier for your right now as SAP is concentrating more on web technologies nodejs cloud etc.., (assuming your web development experience is more into js)

and moreover SAP just started the Devtoberfest2020 with lots of free learnings, so check it out.

https://developers.sap.com/devtoberfest.html

and also check opensap which is the best source of free SAP learning content.

Thanks for answer.
I have extensive knowledge on NodeJS.

Should I go with LearningHub or openSAP?

anes_mulalic31 unless you are in some hurry, I would not suggest u to go with learning hub right now.. as you are good with node js , check SAP CAPM and other sap cloud foundry services.(free open sap courses and many video tutorials are there already)

https://cap.cloud.sap/docs/

And like I said, check out the devtoberfest and understand what technologies sap is concentrating now a days and you can watch the jobs as well and u can get a good idea what u need to learn. (Btw sap teched is also around the corner)

Then you can decide whether the learning material foe that is available free at openSAP or u need to pay and learn. ... is my suggestion..

Hi Anes,

As you are experienced in web development you can start with SAP UI5 and fiori. The official documentation and tutorials are enough to get started. If you are looking to explore SAP HANA capabilities, this is a really good time to do so as pointed out by Mahesh. You can start with the openSap courses on application development using SAP HANA, which uses the XSA framework. concepts of containerization, node js, MTA will be relatable with your experience.

There is a youtube channel - HANA Academy - you can refer to.

Happy learning!

Thanks for answer!
I will definitely check out UI5 and Fiori.

Is there any "basics" I should catch up before I jump on some module?

Some concepts on MVC architecture, OData services and basic javascript should be good enough for UI5.
