SAP Fiori App for SAP Business One

Hi all,

I have read alot of questions regarding the SAP Fiori License and I understood that it is included within the SAP Hana license.

Our team is developing a SAP Fiori App, but I am confused about the user license to use the application. When testing the application even users with no license but are super-users can access the application to (read/write).

Do we need any user license to access the Fiori app, or the NetWeaver gateway license covers it?

Dear Zain,

please describe your usecase in more detail. All existing named users have also the License to use SAP Gateway, the SAP Fiori Launchpad and SAPUI5. If additional users are planned for the app you have to negotiate with your SAP Account Executive how they can be licensed.

Thank you for answering, in details I would say that I have a super-user without any license but still can modify transactions using the Fiori App. How can that be?

You mean the user has SAP_ALL authorizations? There is no extra licence key needed for Fiori.

so bottom line you are saying that even if the user doesn't have a licence for Business One but have full authorization ( super-user) can make modifications from the Fiori App although he cant do it using business one.

Hi Zain,

thank you for the clarificaiton that it is SAP Business One. I guess that your developers use the OData Services provided by the SAP Business One Service Layer that can also be found at SAP API Business Hub. If this API is accessed by the super user you've mentioned. If you want to restrict what the end-users (without an account in SAP Business One) can do, you need an additional middleware layer. I'm currently investigating the options with another SAP Business One customer. There we think to use the SAP Cloud SDK in combination with the SAP Cloud Application Programming Model. This can be deployed either to SAP Cloud Platform or a SAP HANA XSA instance.

What is your intended environment for the custom Fiori apps? What are your target users?

Thank you for your answer, we haven't decided the environment yet, because it depends on the demand. but most likely it will be on-premise. the target users are gonna be our business one customers. Currently we are testing with sales/purchase module. as I told you before we are still developing it.
