Purchasing Information System in S/4HANA 1909

Hi,

We are currently doing S/4HANA Conversion of a client. One of the simplification is Note 2267463 - S4TWL - LIS in EAM. We understand that PM LIS tables will not be anymore recommended to use and will be replaced with CDS views.

I would like to ask, is this only applicable to PM Logistics Information system tables? I.e S061, S062, etc. How about the "Purchasing Information System" tables (e.g. S011 - Purchasing Group, S012 – Material, Material Group, Vendor, …)? Will these Purchasing Info system tables of MM will also be unsupported in S/4HANA and replaced with CDS views? We have checked the Simplification List of S/4HANA 1909 but the "Purchasing Information system" tables are not specified.

Please help advise. Thank you,

Michelle

Hello Michelle,

even if you do not find a formal hint on the "end of support" for MM LIS, I think the correct view on the situation in 1909 is as follows:

1) All EXISTING functionality in 1909 (incl. MM LIS) will continue to be supported as long as 1909 is supported (so still for a couple of years to come). This is due to companies converting existing ERP systems to S/4.

2) The CDS views for MM reporting are already all there. Absolutely no need to go back to LIS tables. Please check it out in the CDS view browser.

If you do not start using the the new MM reporting apps and CDS views I think you mostly miss the essence of what an S/4HANA implementation is about.

Steffen

Thank you Steffen for taking your time answering my query. Additional question, can you share the CDS views available for MM reporting, is there a list for this for me to check? Thank you.

Hello Michelle,

when you go to the app "View browser" in the Fiori Launchpad, then type in "Purchasing group" (as an example), then you get a lot of results.

One example would be CDS view "C_PurchasingGroupAnalysis", but there are many more.

Depending on whether you need the "table access" for development purposes in custom code or a ready-to-use report, in the latter case please explore first the Fiori reporting apps delivered in the relevant purchasing business roles.

Steffen
