How to increase the input field length of specification property Nutrient composition

Hi Experts,

There is a requirement to increase the field length and Currently the input field accepts only 6 digits and 4 Decimal i.e) 123456.0000 so total 10 digits. Technical Type is P(6) DEC 4... but business wants to enter 7 digits before decimals. Where Can I find the field length and number of allowed decimal points or change how the data is entered. I can find the Class as given by the Property Tree and the Component Type and Value assignment category is RMS_N and Type SAP_RMS_1012_005.

Where are these fields configured and how to best do it?

Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Hello

DO NOT TRY TO CHANGE HERE. THIS IS (or would be) A MODIFICATION (from SAP perspective). You can crash you SAP environment !

The "concentration" data is realized SAP internally using central tables and data structures etc.. So you can not change this for one property without changing a different property.

What is the business need to change the data structures?

Concentrations structures are normally well understood by chemists etc. So there is no need to change the data structure (now working a long time in EHS there was no need to change this).

You need to differentiate the "value" and the related "UOM". Both together is a "value"; but not one alone.

In Standard SAP EHS you can enter e.g. data like "100 %" or "100 %0" or... so we have "100" as the value and "%" (or %0)" as the UOM. By design SAP has decided to use the data structures you are referrig to. But this is really ok from my point of view.

Hello

never ever change SAP characteristics (as delivered by SAP). It is a "nightmare". If there is no other option: create a "Z" characteristic but DO not add this to the SAP class (this is as well a modification).

The work you need to invest much much time is the "UOM" story. It is not because of "complexity" doing the job. But "UOM"s are central object (like countries, currencies etc.). To handle UOM in one system in one company can be a night mare.
