Need to know if SAP Supports Dual Dev System Import

I Need to know if SAP supports (or what they will support) Transporting between two Development systems that have either different level support packs or different releases.

We currently has a dual landscape environment that both have Development and QA systems for R/3, BW, and EBP. One is used for Production Support and the other is used for new release development. We only have one Production system for both landscapes. The issue that we are having is trying to keep the Release landscape in sync with the Production Support Landscape. We currently replicate all the Production Support Changes to our Release Dev systems manually and it takes incredible amount of resources and time. We are aware of OSS Notes 330267 and 556734.

We just need to clarify what is supported and what is not supported.

We are currently on releases R/3 – 4.7 / SRM 4.0 / BW 3.5

The questions we would like to be addressed and answered are as follows:

1. Does SAP support the importing of Transports from one Development system to another with a higher Support Stack level (we would not use the overwrite option)?

a. This question is for R/3, BW. And EBP

b. If there are only certain items that SAP supports, can you please identify them?

2. Does SAP support the importing of Transports from one Development system to another with a different release Stack level (we would not use the overwrite option)?

a. This question is for R/3, BW. And EBP

b. If there are only certain items that SAP supports, can you please identify them?

Thanks,

Harveen.

Hi,

I don't think that's a very good idea to do transport to a system with another SP level.

You should have a freeze period and a cutover (after a db copy?) to get in sync
