SAP S/4HANA 1909 FPS01 Activate on GCP. Quota 'N2_CPUS' exceeded.

Hello,

I'm trying to activate 1909 FPS02 Appliance. I've already increased all the required quotas - CPU, SSD, but still getting the following error (see pics):

code" : "QUOTA_EXCEEDED", "message" : "Quota 'N2_CPUS' exceeded. Limit: 0.0 in region europe-west1."

I've requested Google Support Team to increase this particular quota and they have increased more generic top-level quota for CPUS_ALL_REGIONS. That said that should helps:

===============================================

Your quota request for ... has been approved and your project quota has been adjusted according to the following requested limits:

+------------------+--------+-----------------+
| Name | Region | Requested Limit |
+------------------+--------+-----------------+
| CPUS_ALL_REGIONS | GLOBAL | 44 |

+------------------+--------+-----------------+

Could you please help to resolve that problem? Maybe the installation script requests that particular Quota (N2 for europe_west) instead of requesting top-level CPUS_ALL_REGION_GLOBAL quota? How it can be fixed?

regards,

Valeriy

Hi Aleksandar,

Thanks for your response.

Yes, I've requested to increase the N2 europe_west metric exactly the way you described. But it seems that GC Support Team believe that top level parameter CPUS_ALL_REGION take precedence over N2_CPUS, and therefore they simply changed CPUS_ALL_REGION GLOBAL as i mentioned in my first post. And they didn't even explain why they increased another parameter, than the one i requested.

I've tried 2 times and every time did the same thing, automatically - increasing CPUS_ALL_REGION and therefore when i start activating my instance the S/4HANA script fails while checking the quota. Is there a workaround for this problem from the SAP side?

regards,

Valeriy

Hi Valeriy,

There is a quota set for each machine type (N1, N2, ...).

Please see: https://cloud.google.com/compute/quotas

You should request to increase N2 for europe_west:

1. go to the Quotas page in the console

2. in the 'Filters table' select 'Metric'

3. type 'n2' and select the 'n2_cpus'

4. then click on the drop-down to select the desired region.

Best Regards,

Aleksandar

Hi there,

same for me:

Issue when preparing instance for solution "SAP BW/4HANA 2.0 including SAP BW/4HANA Content 1.0 SP9 [Developer Edition]":

"Usage limits reached: Regional: - Quota 'N2_CPUS' exceeded. Available: 8, Requested: 12 To solve this problem you have to request additional quota from the Quotas page in the GCP console."

Requested new Limit from 8 to 12 CPUs for region europe-west1:

Quota: N2 CPUs

Region: europe-west1

Raise limit from 8 to 12

Got

+------------------+--------+-----------------+
| Name | Region | Requested Limit |
+------------------+--------+-
----------------+
| CPUS_ALL_REGIONS | GLOBAL | 12 |
+------------------+--------+-
----------------+

but europe-west1 Limit was not raised (kept at 8 ).

Hence, run again in same issue.

best regards

Hello Dake,

Could you mention the full solution name in order to be able to check the required minimum cores?

Best regards,

Tsvetinka

I would recommend that you check the quota required for the specific solution in the solution details in SAP CAL.

To do this, choose the “Cost Calculator” option and select the target cloud provider/region.

For example the “SAP S/4HANA 1909 FPS02, Fully-Activated Appliance” solution requires minimum 36 cores for GCP if only the mandatory 2 virtual appliances are selected.

The “SAP BW/4HANA 2.0 including SAP BW/4HANA Content 1.0 SP9 [Developer Edition]” solution requires minimum 12 cores in GCP.

Hi Ivanka,

yes , I'm in contact with google about that. It seems the resource requirements on SAP side are not provided by google out-of-the-box

for my regio - i.e. for Limit n2_cpus (8 instead of needed 12).

Yo have to request them and align this and the resulting cost model with a google contact person.

You can use Google cost calculator

I will keep you updated on this.

Go the requested new Limits from google for my region and from CAL Instances (1 Linux, 1 WIndows) were created.
