How enhance MB51 transaction in S/4 Hana environment

Hi everybody,

I'm working on a S/4 Hana environment and user request is to add 2 description fields in MB51 transaction.

I know that in this kind of environment the master data tables (for MB51 transaction) are not MKPF/MSEG anymore.. now the master table is MATDOC, so is not enough enhance MKPF/MSEG structures.

I'm working on classic Sap Gui and I have not Sap Hana studio.. so.. how can I enhance the MB51 layout? What I have to do?

Thanks in advance to all,

    Michaela Pennacino,

You don't Need a HANA studio for this but you definitely need a ADT tool for the same.

In your case you must first identify the proxy object related to the table, this can be navigated through menu bar, From SE11 navigate to Extras --> Proxy Object. This will give the Proxy Object available for your standard table.

Now when you try to add the entries in this table and try activating you may get critical warnings which cant be ignored. You will not able to view the entries of your table at this point.

As a next step you have extend your respective proxy object using ADT, these proxy objects are CDS views. You need to extend the CDS with the same fields you have added to your data base table. This step helps you in overcoming the issue and you would have successfully added the fields to the table.

Recommend you to go through SAP NOTE 2242679, which deals with Proxy Substitution.
