Functional Location does not match the Edit Mask

We have discovered that user are able to create a functional location that doesn't match what the edit mask is configured for. For example:

1. Edit Mask: XXX-XXX-XXXX-XXX-XX-XXXX-XXXX-XXXX

2. Created Functional Location: CAL-HSM-2000-185-2

Shouldn't SAP have prevented this Functional Location from being created?

Hi,

You can always create a functional location which is less than the edit mask length. You cannot exceed the edit mask length.
