SAP Solution Manager 7.2 sps 09

Hello,

currently we are not having solution manager in our landscape and we want to implement it. Our servers are present individually,there is no central SLD. I have come across solution manager 7.2 sps 9 or higher does not need to synchronize with SLD that means we do not need SLD completely? How can our dev,quality and production servers connect to sap solution manager 7.2 without SLD?
