Split BODS from Standalone server to Distributed

Hi,

We have BODS/IS/DQM application and database on one server. I have to split and move DB to other node.

Here are some steps i am planning to follow.

IPS:

Backup/restore CMS/Audit db to new server.

In SIA properties, choose copy option to move the SIA/CMS.

DS:

Backup/restore all repo dbs to new server.

in CMS, update repo connection info.

delete job server entry in AL_MACHINE_INFO and reconfigure job server to use new repo dbs.

IS:

Follow steps in 1773657/1863547.

DQM: ???

Please let me know if any steps are missing.

Also, let me know how to update DS datasource hostnames to new db server.

Hi Praveen,

I think the steps you provided are fine as these are the prerequisites for changing to Distributed system.

Installing a total fresh applications to Distributed system is fine but distributing a pre-installed Stand alone is different, Many configuration related challenges may come during configuring.

So I suggest do all the backups correctly, So that it will be easy to recover. then only proceed.

Additionally,

• Take a backup of DSConfig.txt file from below location. As I think it also needs to be updated as well .

C:\ProgramData\SAP BusinessObjects\Data Services\conf\DSConfig.txt

• Also take backup of Tomcat folder. It might be effected too.

Let me know if any challenges face during configuration, I will try to help.
