Hi All,

Quick question, we are testing SAP S4 HANA system for performance.

AS part of testing scope, we have end to end flows, background jobs, analytical reports on S4.

Do we need SAP CARAB system to be connected to SAP S4 test environment?

Hi Karun,

I would recommend you to consider CAR as part of integration scope(for performance) primarily for the following reasons.

1.Processed sales data (Aggregated and Non Aggregated sales) is sent from CAR to S4HANA system and depending on the volume of idocs and if they are processed overnight, it may be quite performance intensive and may have an impact in S4H server

2.Master data updates are sent immediately real time from S4H to CAR system through SLT(i believe you are considering SLT as well in your scope), if you have SLT installed either within S4H or separately there will still be load on S4H system.

3.If your CAR system has DDF/UDF functionalities then there will master data updates as part of DRFOUT that goes out from S4HANA to CAR where the jobs will be running in S4H server trying to update data in CAR Application layer

Hi Karun,

The extraction jobs will be running in SLT server since you have a separate server, however the RFC connection will need to be established between ECC and SLT as the data extraction would refer to the S4H for master data.

Yes, you need to connect the CAR HANA DB pointing to SLT server and the S4 as you will have two separate schemas in CAR HANA DB(one will be for CAR and another for S4H).

Hi Aram, Thanks for your response, its helpful.

Few questions, since I feel you can clarify this, related to SLT.

We have the SLT installed on a separate server and not installed on SAP S4. We recommended to include SLT jobs as part of performance test scope. Need clarifications for below:

- Will the extraction jobs run in SAP S4 systems when we trigger from SLT server?

- Do we need the EHANA system to be connected to SLT and SAP S4 to trigger the SLT jobs in S4?

Any link related to SLT, how it runs will be helpful.
