Production orders unconfirm when Purchase orders are moved out

Hello everyone. I am a buyer for my company. There are many times where I have to move a purchase order out within our system. It could be because we have enough stock and we don't need it yet, or the supplier is behind and I have to move the date out. Regardless of the reason if the purchase order is moved out I am usually put at fault when we miss a customer order because the production order unconfirmed as soon as the PO was moved out. How and why does my planning team complete production orders like this. Does it have to be like this? This even happens if we have enough stock to cover the order. Once it unconfirms then another customer could come in and steal the parts I thought we had in stock for this customer. Please help shed some light on this. I would love to be able to fix this for my company.

Hello,

What you mean by unconfirmed the production order when you move the purchase order?

we miss a customer order because the production order unconfirmed as soon as the PO was moved out

If you moved the PO and no inventory to cover the production order execution this could lead the customer miss promise as you won't be able to produce your goods.

However then this should not be the case if you have enough inventory to cover production order.

This even happens if we have enough stock to cover the order. Once it unconfirms then another customer could come in and steal the parts I thought we had in stock for this customer.

In make stock environment another customer can get this stocks if you unconfirmed first sales order and ATP check another sales order. However you need to unconfirmed the first sales order.

So please make sure by which process you unconfirmed the customer order.
