Material Field Length Extension from 18 to 40

Hello,

What are the manual steps required and checks to be done considering the possible extension of material from 18 to 40 in S4HANA. I was trying to understand the note 2215424, but that seems elaborative. In short, I am looking for a method to scan the entire data flow in the system(custom code) is to be analysed to identify all the places in which a material number was moved to a field that was not long enough for a 40 character material number, and other possible impacts.

There is a variable in the ATC cocpit to analysed the code.

this will inform you about the usage of FM/BAPI with the material number ( you will have to switch to material_long), and about fixe size for material (MATNR18)
