Hi,
What are the success metrics can be captured as part of standard integration between SMC and SAP DI?
So far i am receiving Sent Messages and Delivered messages only not Hard/Soft Bounces, Opened Messages and Clicks.
Is there any configuration need to setup in SMC to campture these or it is something SAP DI should sent to us or it is product limitation.
Kindly help me here.
Regards,
Bhaskar Pavuluru
Hi bhaskar.idp. Some SMS metrics are not available as the ones you see in emails. That's not because of SAP DI, that's because of the SMS providers and the protocol itself.
When I say "providers" I mean AT&T, Verizon, Orange or whatever telco company. Some of them have a work around to get "message read", but it's not implemented in all the providers. You can see a similar answer here that describes the problem of "SMS read".
It's similar with the clicks. If you want to track the clicks, you can do something with URL trackers like bit.ly, but the provider and the protocol is not ready for that kind of measures.
Regarding to hard/soft bounces, you can have hard bounces in some cases. The soft bounce concept is not applicable to SMS. Normally soft bounces are because "inbox is full" and that's not applicable for SMS. You should get the hard bounces in some cases, so it's something you can discuss with SAP DI.
Let me know if you have more questions 🙂 Happy to help.

Hi Bhaskar,
these metrics are usually delivered by standard integration with SAP DI.
You can do a GET call to the API and have a look at the statistics. So check if the messages are just not delivered from SAP DI to SMC or do even not arrive at SAP DI.
For example this could look like that:
https://email-eu1.sapdigitalinterconnect.com:443/in365-api/your_sapdi_account/notifications?startUTCTime=20200701090000&endUTCTime=20200727060000&groupIndex=1&campaignId=0000000005&statusText=SOFT_BOUNCE
Of course you have to adjust the parameters according to your needs.
Maybe that helps.

Hi bhaskar.idp,
do you have access to the app "Communication Systems"?
There you should find the integration with SAP DI and as a user for Outbound Communication you can find the Account details. But of course you also need the password which should have been provided by SAP DI and the one who did the integration should own that.
