HANA backup retention

Hi,

My question is where do we set the backup retention period for SAP HANA. I am unable to find what is the current value set for the retention period and need to change as we are getting backup log full alerts in the HANA studio. Any help will be appreciated.

    Hi,

You have to housekeep your log / data backups yourself. Log backups are automatic if configuration global.ini -> persistence -> log_mode = normal.

For data backups there's a new way of scheduling them through HANA cockpit.

Other than that, you can check the script provided on sap Note 1651055 to schedule backups and set retention for data backups.

This was already discussed in the past: https://archive.sap.com/discussions/thread/3205712

The backup retention is defined in your backup software. If you want to delete the backups from the backup catalog: at the moment there is no automatic job to delete old backups from the catalog. You have to write a script for that yourself.
