Keep VP planned order date with new convertible planned order is created

We have some finished materials that we are using strategy 52 to forecast and purchase the raw materials before sales orders are received.

We are trying to limit sales to our forecast both with quantity and date of production, but only when we have the order in hand.

is there a way to make make the convertible planned orders that are created once a sales order is received match the PIR (VSE)'s planned order (type VP)

example

item 1 has forecast of 10 on 10/5/20, sales order comes in with request date 9/15/20 for 5. I would like the planned order the MRP creates to still have the 10/5/20 date.

Hi Chris,
Based on my understanding about the above query.
In case of the Planning Strategy 52, once you receive the Sales Order, during the MRP Run, System will look for the existing VP Planned Orders, in that period, if exists, system will convert that VP Planned Order, to the Convertible Planned Order, to the Quantity equal to the Sales Order Quantity.
If you don't have any VP Panned Order in that period( available for MRP), System will create fresh convertible Planned Order, with quantity equal to the Sales Order Quantity.& will not touch the existing VP Planned Orders, which are with the future period.

Hope, it is clear. If still any questions, please let me know.
Thanks & Regards : Raja
Below is one such example, as mentioned

Hello Raja

here I would like to keep the convertible planned order on the same date as the VP planned order.

Hi Chris,
Thanks A Lot, for the quick feedback.
In my view, the purpose of VP Planned Order is only to restrict the Finished Product production, till the receipt of the Sales Order.
Which means, your finished Product Production will start only upon the receipt of the Sales Order.(Sub assembly is ready)
Once you receive the confirmed Sales Order, it is always better to proceed with the final production, without any further waiting, to respond to the Customer. What is the point, again to link with the VP Planned Order dates, to the Convertible Planned Order ?
Let the Convertible Planned proceed with in line with the Sales Order Receipt Dates.
Hope, this is clear. Kindly let me know your comments, if any

Hello Raja,

I appreciate you responses and, I understand what you're saying about trying to about trying to start final production without waiting, let me explain a little deeper

we have products that have, high cost, long leadtime >120 days but short useful life (seasonal goods), as well as large physical size of the finished item, but small raw materials, so we have to use strategy 52 and VSE(VP planned orders) to allow us to order the raw materials. So as the sales orders come in we won't have the raw materials until the PIR date (planned order date), which is why I'd love the convertible planned order to retain the VP planned order date.

We are also trying to limit the quantity that can be sold to the PIR quantity, for the same leadtime/useful life of the products.

is there a way for once all PIRs are consumed to not create new planned orders?

Thank you for your help.
