What could be the problem in the backoffice configuration if the editor-area is emtpy when you double-click an attribute which contains an item and the pop-up opens? E.g. you double-click the attribute Catalog in a Catalog Version. The behavior occurs on ALL attributes of different ItemTypes regardless of the attribute's ItemType.
The editor area is displayed normally when you open the Item directly from the list.

I've encountered this situation in the past. I don't know the exact cause or fix, but I usually try either of these two, and they will fix the issue:
- In Backoffice's Application Orchestrator, run "Reset Everything"
- In HAC, run Platform Update on backoffice-related extensions
Also, try to clear the browser cache.
