Dear Experts,

We are facing a issue with planned order number range. In system we had a number range of planned order object PLAF

From 0000000001 - To 0039999999 with 10 % buffer

so when we had the last planned order as 0036244757, system gave the error message as "Number range 01 for object PLAF nearly exhausted" so in order to fix this issue we had extended the number range from 0039999999 to 0079999999.

In order to test this changes, we created a new planned order by MD11 but then also we got the same message "Number range 01 for object PLAF nearly exhausted" as an information popup but we are able to save the planned order and it is stored in table PLAF say 0036244760. As a subsequent action, we have removed the current planned order (system displays automatically) and updated the new planned order say 0036244760.

But now we are facing many issues

1. We are able to create new planned order in MD11 but the information pop up appears as said above

2. In SNRO, for object PLAF the current NR status is displaying a planned order as 0036244790. But this planned order 0036244790 doesn't exists in the system and there is no trace for this planned order in table PLAF. As per the table PLAF, the latest planned order is 0036244760.

3. When we run MRP for a material which has a requirement, as a result of MRP run system is not creating new planned orders for satisfying the requirements.

Currently we are unable to find the root cause of the system behavior. We are facing a critical issue. Please provide your suggestion for fixing this issue

Regards,

J.Balakrishnan

Hello

The planned order number range object is buffered, so when you make a change to the number range, you need reset the buffer.

You can reset the number range buffer after the change in transaction SM56. The following note provides more details:

531599 - MRP: Error message because number range nearly exhausted

Also, make sure that there is no entry in table PLAF within the new range, otherwise, you may end up with a update termination.

Caetano
