Hi,
I'm using Eclipse 2020-06 and updated to the latest version of the SAP Development Tools plugin.
After the update I see now the following error message when I start Eclipse.
In the Eclipse logfile .log I see the following error message:

!MESSAGE init exec providers default locations
!SUBENTRY 1 org.eclipse.core.jobs 4 2 2020-07-15 17:02:45.692
!MESSAGE An internal error occurred during: "GRUNT default location".

Please fix it.

Hi, this issue is caused by the SAP Cloud Business Application Tools. A fixed version is available on this update site: https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/2021-09/
With this version installed, I don't get this NullPointerException anymore. If you don't use the SAP Cloud Business Application Tools, you can also uninstall this feature as a workaround.
Thanks,
Markus
Hello
I'm facing the same error installing Eclipse 2019-12 , when i add the related SAP Tools (https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/2019-12) it appears that same message.
Does some body knows how to solve it ? Thanks.

Hello! I was facing this same issue after a eclipse update, and after removed the SAP Cloud Business Application Tools got a fix.
The step by step:
1. Help > Install new software.
2. Select the Hana Tools repository (I Don't think this is really necessary, but I did it when got the fix)
3. Click on the link "What is already installed"
4. In the new window that shows off, search for "SAP Cloud Business Application Tools", select it (make sure you are selecting the root folder) and click on Uninstall
It worked for me, hope it can help.

Same error on my installation, since I upgraded to 2020.06. Waiting for a bug-fix, as this is not the way software should be tested and released to customers.

Same problem here. I'm considering rolling back to version 2020-03. 😞

I have the same issue.
I have Eclipse 2020-06 installed and the SAP BW and ABAP tools. I originally installed Eclipse 2020-03 and associated SAP development components (defined here https://tools.hana.ondemand.com/). Eclipse auto updated Eclipse to 2020-06 (and the BW and ABAP dev tools?). My impression is that the problem started at this point.
It does not seem to have any impact on my further operations after logged into a specific SAP project.
