Hello,

I'm encountering a problem in SAP GUI Configuration.

I am trying to add excel in SAP GUI Config. and I followed the steps below.

Go to SAP GUI Config. > Visual Design > Applications > Add EXCEL.EXE

The screenshot below (left) is the guide I'm following and (right) is the actual that I'm trying to input,

Expectation is, if I click the "add" button below, a file name should appear.

But the problem is that whenever I click the add button, nothing happens and no app is appearing.

Would like to seek for your help on this please. Hoping I would get an answer for this. Thanks in advance!

Best Regards,

Bea C.

Hi, Andrea:

Thank you for visiting SAP Community to get answers to your questions. Since you're asking a question here for the first time, I recommend that you familiarize yourself with https://community.sap.com/resources/questions-and-answers (if you haven't already), as it provides tips for preparing questions that draw responses from our members.

Should you wish, you can revise your question by selecting Actions, then Edit (although once someone answers your question, you'll lose the ability to edit the question -- but if that happens, you can leave more details in a comment).

Finally, if you're hoping to connect with readers, please consider adding a picture to your profile. Here's how you do it: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=F5JdUbyjfMA&list=PLpQebylHrdh5s3gwy-h6RtymfDpoz3vDS. By personalizing your profile with a photo of you, you encourage readers to respond.

Hi, Jerry.

Thanks for providing some tips and further details. Please note that I have already browsed and searched for the specific question I was asking in sap community Q&A. I saw similar questions and answers but didn't see a specific answer that's why I already wrote/ask for a question here.

Also, as you advised I have already added a profile picture so I could get a response easily. Thank you so much!

Best regards,

Bea C.

Hello Bea,

I'm faced with the same issue and I can't find any solution, unfortunately Stefan's solution does not apply.
Would you by chance have found a solution?

Thanks
Flavien

Hi, Flavien:

Please don't post a question as an answer to another question.

I have converted your answer to a comment, but considering that this question is from more than a year ago, you might be better off asking a new question and perhaps linking to this question for reference.

You can learn more about questions and answers on SAP Community at https://community.sap.com/resources/questions-and-answers.

Kind regards,

Hello Bea,

I find it likely that this is the issue from SAP Note 2742618 "Dialog does not open".
After clicking "Add" a browse dialog is supposed to be opened. This did not work anymore after changes in Windows. You should try a current version of SAP GUI for Windows. Your screenshot seems to show SAP GUI for Windows 7.50 (which is out of support anyway).

Best regards,
Frank

Hello Bea,

welcome in the SAP Community.

It is possible to set the application page as read only. Check the following registry value [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\Wow6432Node\SAP\General\Applications] or [HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\SAP\General\Applications] (on 32-Bit OS)
if the entry AppsSapGuiVisualTheme_ReadOnly exists.

Best regards
Stefan
