MS Active Directory : User Status, User details like Org/Position/role from SAP ABAP program?

Dear Gurus,

For Business Partner we need to validate a the Contact Person's Employee Id/User Id in Microsoft Active directory has to be checked for :

1) User is Active?

2) Position in Organization

3) Role in the Organization

Which API(s)/RFC(s) should be using for this validations?

LDAP seems to be configured. Is there a BAPI to validate this from SAP ABAP? I need to use ABAP program.

Can you please guide me in the right direction. Thanks in advance.

Thanks and Regards

Pramod Ch

Simple answer you need to configure LDAP so that you can read it. In a most basic form you will require a userid setup in Active Directory that will allow you to read specific attributes. You would then have a developer write some code for you using SAP provided LDAP function modules.

There are blogs and notes and wiki pages that will drive you to do a full integration. For what you are looking for it is not needed.

    Another few things to consider

    (1) your AD team [Directory Services] might be able to give you a CSV extract.

    (2) AD is not the system of record, they get information from the HR system. You could take the exact same feed AD is receiving that "Directory Services" team is using to create/update AD record.

Item (2) above is very common and there will be a flat file feed somewhere within your organization. You can take that flat file and use a standard IDOC to load the HR Org structure into SAP. This is a recommended way of doing things in SAP.

    Hope this helps.
